Dinosaurs around Singapore are a rare find.
Some of us may have childhood memories of sitting on the Sentosa monorail and passing by dinosaur statues as the carriage slowly chugged its way around the island. In the not too distant past, a garden filled with dinosaur statues used to stand in a quiet corner of the Singapore Zoo’s Kidzworld. However, this too has disappeared into extinction.
Nonetheless, the allure of dinosaurs endures. New dinosaur-related shows and exhibitions keep springing up in Singapore. The Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum is expected to open next year with real dinosaur exhibits, and on screen, Buddy invites everyone aboard the Dinosaur Train.
In truth, dinosaurs are like memories, creatures of the past but refusing to go away. Similarly, while the places our children grow up with may go away, they will be indelibly linked to our memories of time spent with family and friends.
So where are the best places around Singapore for kids to encounter dinosaurs today? That’s the question we try to answer this week as we go in search of little day outs with dinosaurs.
