The Little Penguins at Phillip Island are one of the biggest draws for people to make the two-hour drive south of Melbourne. While it may be a bit hard to visit Melbourne at the moment, Phillip Island Nature Parks is bringing the Little Penguin experience to people all over the world with a Phillip Island Penguin Parade live stream starting from 25 August 2020.
Watch Little Penguins Waddle Home, From Home
The very first Phillip Island Penguin Parade live stream will take place at 6 pm, Melbourne time (4 pm Singapore Time) on the Phillip Island Nature Parks Facebook page and YouTube channel.
The nightly live stream of the famous Penguin Parade will run for 30 minutes. It will be accompanied by expert commentary and a chance for viewers to ask Rangers questions in real time.
Normally, people would have to brave the cold and windy weather at the bleachers in front of the sea to wait for the Little Penguins to return to shore.
That’s what we did the last around around and we only managed to spot of a handful of penguins returning to their burrows. Therefore, the prospect of watching the live stream of the Little Penguins from home seems a lot more comfortable.
Phillip Island Penguin Parade Live Stream
According to Phillip Island Nature Parks, this is believed to be the world’s first live stream of a natural wildlife event at a regular time with expert commentary.
Personally, we are wondering if anyone has told the Little Penguins about the live stream yet and whether the cute little birds will waddle up on time or keep the world waiting. 🙂
The Little Penguins of Phillip Island stand at around 33 cm tall and weigh around just one kilogram. They head out to sea in search of food and return to their nesting burrows to breed and raise chicks. There are around 32,000 adults at Phillip Island and they have been known to swim up to 50 kilometres in a day.
