IKEA Jem maybe the smallest store out of the three of the brand’s stores in Singapore but it is definitely a welcomed one. It also packs a punch with plenty of home furnishings and even fitting in the beloved IKEA dining experience with meatballs in the mall-based store.
Hare are some useful things to know about IKEA Jem to help you get around the store and get the most out of your visit.
Visiting IKEA Jurong: Three Floors from Level 2 to 4 of Jem
There are three levels at IKEA Jurong. Generally speaking, Level 2 is “Living Room”, Level 3 is “Bedroom”, “Level 4 is “Kitchen” with the popular IKEA food hall and restaurant. The floors are interconnected by an internal escalator.
You can also shop with a trolley and if you need to move from floor to floor with the trolley, you can make use of the internal elevator.
Smaller IKEA Shopping Trolley
To accommodate the narrower aisles, you can also make use of the smaller IKEA trolleys for shopping. They have a handle and can be pushed around very easily. I like how these smaller versions do not block the aisles compared to the ones at the other stores. They are also escalator-friendly!
5-in-1 Kiosk
If you are slightly lost or in need of more information, fret not. Simply visit one of the 5 in 1 kiosks. The kiosk offers information on price of products, it lets you navigate the IKEA.sg site and you can conveniently check on stock levels at other stores. It also allows you to check your membership privileges, send feedback or use the wayfinder to navigate the store.
Wayfinder Information on the Signboards
As you make your way around IKEA Jurong, you can look up to see the various sections marked out on the blue and white signboards that hang from the ceiling. One useful thing to take note of is that below the main header, there is an indication of the next section coming up in smaller font.
Interactive Touchscreens for Digital Home
A couple of the displays at IKEA Jem are set up with digital control panels. IKEA is offering more digital home controls and you can try these out within some of the displays within the store. This is intended to allow you to get a feel of how these digital solutions would work in a home.
Event Hall
At Level 3, you will find a section that hosts rotating displays of items. For example, during Chinese New Year, it has displays of Chinese New Year-related items and likewise for Christmas too.
Kitchen Planning Studio
IKEA Jem may be rather compact but you still find the services that you have come to expect at IKEA at its Jem store. There is a Kitchen Planning Studio located on Level 3 for those who wish to get IKEA to help you plan out your dream kitchen.
Play Panel for Kids
If you are visiting IKEA Jurong with kids, you may notice that is no play room for kids. However, you will be able to find a play panel just beside the Kitchen Planning Studio on Level 3. Perhaps this is to keep kids occupied while the grown ups mull over the type of kitchen finishes to order.
IKEA Restaurant and Food
The IKEA restaurant and food are such a well-loved part of the experience of visiting the Swedish store in Singapore. IKEA Jurong has got three ways for you to indulge your love for all Swedish grub.
You can head to the IKEA restaurant to pick up some food (just be careful of the downward slope as you pass the cashiers.
There is a microwave and kids cutlery available within the restaurant too.
You can also pick up something light to eat and to take away from the Swedish bistro too.
Then, there is a market where you can purchase frozen Swedish meatballs and other delights.
Check Out at Level 4
Do take note that when you want to make a purchase, you will have to make your way up to Level 4. All the checkout counters have been centralised on Level 4.
