Painting is a great pastime that can be done across different ages and is a great activity when playing indoors or outdoors. However, not all paints are suited for children, especially if they are younger and tend to get paint on different surfaces.
Here is how you can make some three-ingredient DIY Non-Toxic paint with just three ingredients that kids can use and make for their next painting session!
DIY Non-Toxic Paint Method One
What you need:
- 2 tablespoons corn starch
- 1/3 cup liquid body soap
- Food colouring of choice
How to make DIY paint:
Mix the above ingredients, and put them into cups. We used the recipe above to make one colour and made another portion for the various colours. This paint went on paintbrushes relatively easy and is a great paint to play with within the bathroom.
We tested this paint on our bathroom tiles and it washed off easily. Do note that this might not be the same for all bathrooms, so be sure to do a spot test and wash it after leaving the paint to dry.
We suggest ensuring it is washable before allowing your kid to paint on the various surfaces.
DIY Non-Toxic Paint Method Two
What you need:
- 2 tablespoons Corn starch
- 2 tablespoons of water
- Food colouring
How to make DIY Paint:
Mix the ingredients above and put them into separate containers or cups. We used the measurements above to make one colour. The texture of the paint was thick because of the corn starch, but the flour made it a little harder to clean off the brush, so we recommend using fingers.
It also did not absorb as well on thinner paper, so we attempted an abstract painting on the floor that turned out relatively well.
Do note that this might not be the same for all outdoor surfaces, so be sure to do a spot test and wash it after leaving the paint to dry. We suggest ensuring this paint is washable on the service your child intends to paint on.
