We often tell our kids not to play with their food but play is mandatory at food and farm playgrounds in Singapore. Whether it is climbing around supersized fruits or having some playtime with farmyard animals, kids can have fun playing at these themed playgrounds.
Here’s where you can take the kids out for whimsical food-themed and farm-themed fun around Singapore.
Food & Farm Playgrounds in Singapore for Play & Exploration
Tampines Watermelon & Mangosteen Playgrounds
Let’s start with two classics. The iconic watermelon and mangosteen playgrounds found within Tampines Central Parkwere the brainchild of HDB architect Ms Lee-Loy Kwee Wah. The inspiration for the playgrounds came from the fruit farms that were once found in Tampines. With mosaic tiles, the playgrounds are where kids can go on a slide down a slice of watermelon or hide away inside a mangosteen. Tengah Fruit Playground
Tampines is not the only location with a watermelon playground. Tengah Plantation estate also has various fruit playgrounds. Along the central farmway, there is a collection of fruits comprising a watermelon slide, a pineapple and, our favourite, a pair of banana slides. There is even an orange merry-go-round. Find out more about the Tengah Fruit Playground.
Durian Playground at Tengah
Another interesting fruit-themed playground can be found at Plantation Grange. Here you will find a durian-themed climbing frame, together with thorns poking out from the top! Get more details about the durian playground and other fruit-themed playgrounds at Tengah’s Plantation Grange.
Cempedak Playground
Beside durian, another fruit with a thorny exterior is the cempedak. At COMO Adventure Grove, kids can have fun and challenge themselves as they climb on top of a cempedak that is about 100 times larger than the fruit itself! Kids can climb about its thorny surface to practice their coordination while they hold on to its bumpy skin. It a fun to play in a hands-on fashion. Farmyard Playground in Bukit Batok
Nestled away in Bukit Batok at Block 535 is a farmyard-themed playground. The play tower features barn-like coverings, inviting kids to imagine that they are farmers tending to the animals at the farm playground. One side of the playground also features a large display of a cow, encouraging kids to mooo-ve it! Find out more about the Bukit Batok Barn Playground.
Cow Playground in Sengkang
Speaking about cows, make a move to Fernvale Acres and you will find a cow playground. Three bovines of different sizes have been put to pasture at this estate in Sengkang West. Kids can head over to the grazing cows for a unique time at this cow farm themed playground. Get more details about the Fernvale Acres cow playground.
Museum of Ice Cream
Cows give us milk and what’s the best thing that you can make out of milk? Ice cream, of course! At the Museum of Ice Cream, you indulge yourself in ice cream themed photo spots and also imagine that you are swimming in a pool of sprinkles! It is a fun way to cool off, especially if you pick up an ice cream at the end of your visit! Find out more about the Museum of Ice Cream.
