Only for the month of September 2024, the Italian restaurant Allora Ristorante and Bar at Crowne Plaza Changi Airport has launched a limited time regional pizza where diners can pay $28++ for a pizza and choose up to 2 flavour regions per pizza!
Allora Ristorante and Bar: Comfortable Ambience and Spaces for Just About Everyone
The restaurant presents diners with a welcoming setting for social gatherings and family meals. The spacious dining room ushers guests into the relaxing vibes of Italy, away from the city bustle. A pet-friendly alfresco area in the restaurant means that diners can bring their furry family members for a day out. Those wanting to wind down after a full day could also get respite in the bar that has a beverage menu that provides a wide selection of fine wines, spirits and beers.
The Allure of Allora: Tastes of Italy’s Culinary Heritage
For the Regional Pizza available only in September 2024, we got to try 6 flavours of the pizza, each offering distinct flavours that are representative of regions in Italy. The warm and inviting environment had us immersing quickly into the culinary voyage.
Puglia: The burrata is paired with sweet cherry tomatoes, capers and anchovies. This was a popular favourite amongst fellow diners. We paired it with white wine that brings out the nice balance of rich and salty flavours on the palate.
Calabria: This regional flavour could be a surprise to those who are more attuned to local Asian flavours, distinguished by the smoky provola cheese and wild arugula.
Piemonte: Raw Bra sausage and castelmagno cheese accompanied by truffled bagna càuda sauce. This flavour garnered mixed response, mainly to the peculiar combined taste of the Bra sausage and castelmagno cheese, but it worked out for us when paired with red wine, the Fuori Porta Sangiovese IGT.
Campania: A nod to the birthplace of pizza, this flavour is a contrast to some of the adventurous flavours on the menu, and serves buffalo mozzarella with cherry tomatoes and basil.
Sicilia: Sicily’s famed produce of lemons make their mark on this pizza flavour, the lemon zest flavoured caprino cheese with salted ricotta and cherry tomatoes. It was a flavour that we would reach for more, if our stomachs allow.
Toscana: Tuscany’s famous cured ham with salsa verde and pecorino cheese fondue was well put together, making it our personal favourite for the evening.
Pamper yourself with desserts as you conclude your regional pizza journey. The restaurant is known for its Alloramisú ($16++). Served with espresso-dipped Savoiardi Cookies, the dessert is a sweet epilogue to the Italian expedition. Oh, and you are in on the secret – ask for the pineapple pizza dessert that is on the secret menu for more delights!
