For 11 days from 26 September to 6 October 2024, Singapore Design Week is celebrating the everyday visionaries who are making meaningful contributions to the society through design. Amongst the experiences planned include new showcases at Bras Basah.Bugis, Marina, and Orchard Design Districts.
Singapore Design Week 2024: Immersive Experiences Across the City
Singapore Design Week 2024 spans across three vibrant and dynamic neighbourhoods across Singapore, turning familiar urban spaces into design destinations with their own distinct flavour.
The activities taking place during Singapore Design Week 2024 will take place across the following districts:
- Bras Basah.Bugis
- Marina, and
- Orchard
Highlights at the 3 Design Districts
Here is a look at some of the highlights to look out for at the three design disticts.

1. Bras Basah.Bugis
There are 10 site-specific installations challenging mundane activities such as EAT, SLEEP, SHOP and more across the Bras Basah.Bugis Design District. These aims to reframe everyday activities, offering fresh perspectives on design in our daily lives.
At the National Design Centre, view EAT: Transformative Seeds, which explores culinary evolution, the journey of seeds and novel materials that expand the possibilities of food.
READ: BOOK? at the at the National Library Building examines the evolving relationship between humans and books in the digital age.
SLEEP at Naumi Hotel is a holistic two-part experience that explores elements of optimal sleep and shares the stories of five individuals with different relationships to sleep through virtual reality.
Other hubs around the Bras Basah.Bugis District include 42 Waterloo, Bencoolen MRT Station and NAFA.
2. Marina
Head over to Millenia Walk for the Neufolk Design Pavilion which feature creative installations and showcases.
At Marina Square and Suntec City are Reimagining Retail Experiences. Have a look at how six local retail brands, including Kiddy Palace, have been reimagined with the help of six local designers and design studios.
Then explore interactive installations at the Marina area. One highlight for families is the Kinetics Energy Play and the Mooncycle activations by Playpoint Singapore. These can be found at the Linkbridge between Marina Square and Millenia Walk, and at South Beach respectively.
There will also be live performances across Marina Square, Millenia Walk, South Beach and Suntec City, as well as fringe activities like digital painting to a mass chess meet, and a community moss frame mural.
3. Orchard
The Orchard shopping belt will features activations such as Adaptations: Design in Motion, a collective design showcase with refreshed perspectives on ordinary objects at Cineleisure.
Then make your way over to Far East Plaza for Nostalgia Play, a whimsical playground paying tribute to the 80s and 90s.
Getting Between the 3 Design Districts
To help festival-goers to explore the three Design Districts, they can take a free Singapore Design Week shuttle bus service or claim a Grab promo code for a ride to the National Design Centre.
The shuttle bus runs every 30 minutes in a loop between the National Design Centre, Marina Square, and Design Orchard from Fridays to Sundays on 27 to 29 September 2024 and 4 to 6 October 2024.

Innovating Play with the LEGO System in Play
Join the LEGO Singapore Office tour to see what it is like to be working in the LEGO Singapore office. Hear from representatives of the Creative Play Lab as they share about the benefits of play and some of the innovations that has come out of the LEGO Group innovation organisation. Then experience a fun and interactive session that showcases the characteristics of learning through play with LEGO bricks. Get more details.

Explore New Bahru, a creative cluster for Singapore that brings together some of the best local creative brands and businesses on the site of the former Nan Chiau High School. Join local creative businesses in harnessing the transformative power of design to enhance everyday moments through experiential workshops and activations. Get more details.
