Step into an Energy Playground where play powers the fun. This innovative playground is currently on display as part of Singapore Design Week at the level 2 linkway that connects Marina Square and Millenia Walk.

Energy Playground

Looking like a space age, futuristic structure, the green-coloured Energy Playground converts the physical activity of kids (or adults) at play into kinetic energy.

The Energy Playground is made up of several modules. Kids can enter in by using the Rope Climber.

Once inside, they can play with an Energy Hand Crank to light up an LED symbol. They can then make their way across a play bridge that connects over to the Escape Slide that leads back to the ground.

Fitted underneath the bridge is a Holographic Cycle. Here, kids can pedal away on it to power a Hologram Fan.

Moon Runner

Another interesting feature is the Moon Runner. This human hamster wheel encourages kids (or adults) to move as fast as possible spinning the wheel.

Solar panels are also fitted on top of the slide module.

Energy Playground also comes with a Rest Pod

If all that play is too exhilarating, the Energy Playground also has a Rest Pod area where kids can pause to recoup their energy before playing again.

Play & Discover

The various play features at the Energy Playground power interactive LED lights and create a hands-on lesson in renewable energy. Visit it after the sun goes down to see the lights created more clearly.

The other playground elements like slides, climbing nets act as points for imaginative play and social interaction.

If you find this type of playground fun, you can also pay a visit to the Moon Cycle Charged located at South Beach. This is a playful swing that also function as a phone charger. When the seat is moved, it generates power to charge the mobile phone.

You can experience the Energy Playground and the Moon Cycle Charged for yourself from 26 September to 6 October 2024 as part of Singapore Design Week.
