Origins of Dragon Boat Festival

The Dragon Boat Festival falls on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. It is an important festival for Chinese communities around the world. It has its early origins in the worship of the river dragon, before it became associated with commemorating Qu Yuan, a patriotic statesman during the Warring States period of ancient China.
