Changi Airport Terminal 1 is the OG terminal. It opened in July 1981, more than forty years ago! However, that hardly means that it is dated. With its many renovations, you will find plenty of up-to-date amenities at the terminal. Those looking for Changi Airport Terminal 1 food will find a number of different options in the public area, including a hidden food centre. Plus, there are Changi Airport T1 shops and some family-friendly things to do too. 


Changi Airport Terminal 1 Food

Broadly speaking, there are four “clusters” or areas where you can find Changi Airport Terminal 1 food. These are on Level 3, Level 2, Level 1 and the hidden basement food court. 

Level 3 Restaurants at Changi Airport Terminal 1

The main area where you will find the largest variety of restaurants at Changi Airport Terminal 1 public area is on Level 3, one floor above the Departure Level. Take the escalator up to reach the restaurants on Level 3.

Immediately to the left of the escalators on the third floor is Saboten. This Japanese restaurant specialises in tonkatsu. They even offer free flow of salad and soup with their tonkatsu sets.

Opening hours: 10 am to 11 pm


Terrace Chinese Kitchen

Level 3 Restaurants at Changi Airport Terminal 1

This is a casual Chinese restaurant that resembles a cha chaan teng. If you wish to have wanton mee or dishes such as scrambled egg rice, you will find them here.

Opening hours: 8 am to 11 pm


Burger King

Grab your whopper at this fast food restaurant, the only fast food restaurant at Changi Airport Terminal 1. What travellers going through Terminal 1 will appreciate about Burger King is that it is open 24 hours. This means that you can get a bite even if you are checking in for a late night or early morning flight.

Anjappar

Anjappar

Originally established in 1964 in Chennai, India, Anjappar brings the food of the Chettiars to Singapore’s Changi Airport. This is another late night food option at Changi Airport Terminal 1 and it is halal too.

Get the flavours of Penang street food with dishes such as Penang Fried Kway Teow, Assam Curry Fish Head, Lor Bak and more.

Want to get a bowl of hot noodles at Changi Airport Terminal 1? WOKE Ramen is a unique fusion of wok-fried ramen with either a chicken or prawn based broth. This food establishment is open 24 hours.

ANDES BY ASTONS is the place for those looking for western food at Changi Airport Terminal 1. Get steak, chicken, seafood, spaghetti and more at this homegrown restaurant.

Wang Nasi Lemak Kukus

If you want to get a quick bite after checking in at Terminal 1, there is the casual Wang Nasi Lemak Kukus. There is also a Heavenly Wang here where you can get your kaya toast and kopi. This is located at the Departure Hall level, close to where the skytrain departs for Changi Airport Terminal 3.

Cheers & Jamba

Cheers and Jamba

Just beside Wang Nasi Lemak Kukus is the Cheers convenience store, where you can also pick up something quick to eat on the go.

Jamba, the American smoothie chain is located next to Cheers.

Need to get your kaya toast fix at Changi Airport T1? Ma Mum To Go at the Arrival Hall, Level 1 not only offers kaya toast and local kopi but some local dishes as well. You can find it close to Belts 17 and 19.

For the most local food option at Changi Airport T1, there is a the Orchis Food Court, located at the Basement. This is the Changi Airport T1 staff canteen and you will find airport staff and workers having a meal and taking a break at the canteen.

There are multiple stalls selling a wide variety of local food.

However, take note that there are separate prices for the public and staff. Nonetheless, it is still probably the cheapest food option at Changi Airport T1. 

 

How to Get to the Changi Airport T1 Staff Canteen

How to the get to the Terminal 1 Staff Canteen

To get to the Changi Airport T1 Food Court, you can either take an elevator down from the departure hall, close to Check In Rows 13 and 14, or exit the terminal building from the arrival hall close to Belts 17 and 19, and take a flight of stairs down to the basement.

Opening hours: 7 am to 6 pm

For those who wish to buy something, there are several shops at Changi Airport T1 at the Departure Hall. These include a book store, WH Smith, and cosmetics and perfumes by Shilla beside it. 

You can find these shop next to Check In Rows 11 and 12.

Changi Airport T1 Attractions

One of the sculptures that you will find at Changi Airport Terminal 1 is the Kinetic Rain installation at the Departure Hall. It is worth pausing to take it in for a moment.

For families with young kids, head up to Level 3 where the restaurants are located. You will find some coin-operated rides next to Burger King. 

Venture further in at Level 3 to reach the Viewing Gallery. This is quite a large open area where you look out at the planes parked along the various piers.

Terminal 1 Children's Playground

Here, there is a small children’s play area with more coin-operated rides.

Glass floor

Another feature is the glass floor where you can step out over the tarmac.
