A menagerie of animal-themed playgrounds have come to roost in the Keat Hong neighbourhood in the west of Singapore. The Choa Chu Kang animal playgrounds include a lion playground, a hedgehog playground, a zebra playground and a parrot playground.

The quartet of animal playgrounds in Choa Chu Kang can be found around the estate between Choa Chu Kang Avenue 3 and Choa Chu Kang Avenue 2. They are a short distance away from the super fun Choa Chu Kang Mega Playground.

Choa Chu Kang Animal-themed Playgrounds

The four Choa Chu Kang animal playgrounds are brightly coloured and feature a lion, a hedgehog, a zebra and a parrot.

The playground structures themselves are not very large. They are actually similar to other neighbourhood playgrounds that you would typically find between HDB apartment blocks.

However, what makes they stand out are their cute animal designs. These give them a dose of character and make them instantly recognisable.

Lion Playground

Lion Playground

A bright yellow coloured lion with a brown mane looks out towards Choa Chu Kang Avenue 3. We liked how the lion’s haunches, legs and paws were incorporated into the playground design.

Enter the lion playground

You can run under its snout and through its mouth to get to the playground structure.

What's at the lion playground in choa chu kang

There is a low platform with various climbing slopes and poles that kids can enjoy.

Where you would expect to find the lion’s tail, there is a slide – one of two that are part of the playground structure.

Play panel

The lion playground at Choa Chu Kang Avenue 3 also has a blue play panel. You can turn a crank to power up the panel and different buttons light up.

The Choa Chu Kang lion playground can be found close to Block 286 Choa Chu Kang Avenue 3.

Hedgehog Playground

Head over to the Choa Chu Kang Avenue 2, just across from Choa Chu Kang Primary School and you will arrive at the hedgehog playground.

The hedgehog playground’s character design is really cute but it can only be appreciated from one side.

Inside the Hedgehog playground

Behind the facade, when you climb through the belly of the hedgehog, there is a small and simple play structure that is suitable for younger children.

Rear of the Hedgehog playground

As you step through to the low platform, you will come to a low slide that young kids can enjoy.

Another feature at the Choa Chu Kang hedgehog playground are sound tubes.

The Choa Chu Kang hedgehog playground can be found between Blocks 287 & 295 Choa Chu Kang Avenue 2.

Zebra Playground

Zebra Playground

For more of ze-best fun in the neigh-bourhood, how about heading over to the zebra playground.

inside the Zebra Playground

Hidden inside the zebra facade, there is a narrow platform that kids can horse around on.

There are different ways to get up to the platform. In addition to some steps at the rear, there is also an arced climbing slope in the front as well as an arched set of hand and foot holds to the side.

Slides at the Zebra Playground

Two slides lead down from the zebra playground. These are located at two different levels, one higher and the other lower for younger children.

There is also a mini, red merry go round available as part of the playground’s equipment.

The playground can be found next to Block 283 Choa Chu Kang Avenue 3.

Parrot Playground

Parrot Playground

Completing the quartet of animal playgrounds in the Keat Hong neighbourhood is the vibrant parrot playground at Block 274 Choa Chu Kang Avenue 2.

Parrot playground at Choa Chu Kang

We reckon this playground is inspired by a macaw, often long-tailed and very colourful. You can see them at Bird Paradise up in Mandai.

Parrot's body

Entering by the back of the parrot will lead you inside the parrot’s body. One can either climb up through the steps, via holds or a rope ladder.

The three different entrances are perfect for children of mixed ages. Younger ones can make use of the mini rock wall or the rope ladder. Older ones can use the taller steps.

The parrot playground can be found at at Block 274 Choa Chu Kang Avenue 2. You can read more about the parrot playground at Choa Chu Kang.
