Singapore’s first homegrown acrobatic circus, Circus of Altrades (pronounced as elle-tray-dis), will be launching its debut digital circus show in time for the festive season on 20 December. The production, titled, “Circus of Altrades: Christmas Edition”, is perfect for viewers of all ages.

Locals can now support Singapore’s home-grown circus featuring a talented cast of local performers showcasing an array of circus disciplines. Expect to be awed by gravity-defying stunts, acrobatic feats, fire breathing, and more in this festive cinematic piece.

Inspired by the phrase “Jack of All Trades”, Circus of Altrades was founded in 2020 by daredevil duo Beverly Wan and Koh Jia Sheng. They also choreographed and directed the “Circus of Altrades: Christmas Edition” show.

The performance builds on the training they received at the acclaimed Australian circus company, Gravity & Other Myths. The cast members are also well-established in their areas of expertise and comprise of national athletes, gymnasts, cheerleaders, contemporary dancers, and more.

The duo aspires to bring Singapore’s nascent circus scene to new heights and make circus arts more accessible to fellow Singaporeans.

“Aside from spreading the love of the circus to more people, we are hoping that this production can show local artistes that a sustainable and fulfilling career in the arts is possible. This show is just the beginning for us.” said Koh Jia Sheng who is also the Managing Director of Altrades. Circus of Altrades also conducts lessons suitable for students of various ages.

The “Circus of Altrades: Christmas Edition” production will be screened at 8 pm and 9.30 pm at The Projector from 21 to 23 December, with a runtime of 45 minutes. There will also be the option to watch the show online.

Audience members at The Projector screening will be able to enjoy a post-show Q&A session with the two founders of the Circus of Altrades. Adhering to the prevailing social gathering group size limits, the screenings are open to fully-vaccinated audiences only.

Those who wish to enjoy the show in the comfort of home can purchase a link to watch the production online at their own convenience from 20 to 31 December. Tickets for The Projector screening are priced at $25, while the online viewing link can be purchased for $20 whilst stocks last.
