We are familiar with the Sentosa of today, with its hip Siloso and Palawan beaches, modern attractions such as iFly, and as the home to Universal Studios Singapore.

However, there was a time in the past where the latest attraction on Sentosa was Underwater World or Fantasy Island, the theme park was the Asian Village and the old Musical Fountain was the evening’s must-do activity before hopping aboard a ferry back to Singapore from the iconic white Ferry Terminal.

Sentosa Nature Trail: Coastal Forest Trail

Most of today’s visitors to Sentosa flock to its main beaches and attractions. However, a tiny slice of old Sentosa still exists today and is known as the Coastal Forest Trail.

Its entrance is found next to Underwater World and as you walk through it, you will find it facing VivoCity and Reflections at Keppel Bay.

This little trail is open to cyclists and trekkers. Following its little path, it leads down the water’s edge where you can go past “mysterious” pillars with Aztec-looking carvings. These probably seemed kitsch when first installed a long time ago, but now, with the passage of time, look fitting with this lost side of Sentosa. There is even a circle of stones set atop a hillock along the trail.
