Looks like we will have a Five Guys burger outlet in Singapore very soon. It has been announced that the American burger chain will be opening its first Singapore location at Plaza Singapura sometime in the last quarter of 2019.
The Five Guys Singapore outlet will be located on the ground floor of Plaza Singapura with both indoor and outdoor seating. Brought in by Zouk Group, this will be Five Guy’s second outlet in Asia after Hong Kong.
Can we expect this at Five Guys Singapore?
Five Guys is known for its made-to-order burgers. They can be customised with a choice of toppings.
We had a chance to try Five Guys burgers on a recent trip to Paris and got them with the full works of toppings – or ALL THE WAY as it is referred to on the menu.
This dressed the burger up with mayo, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, ketchup and mustard.
The All The Way option made for a seriously loaded, albeit not too appetising-looking, burger. Good thing that it tasted better than it looked.
What goes well with burgers? Milkshakes, of course. And Five Guys serves these too.
However, the stand out menu item for us were the cajon style fries. Cooked in 100% peanut oil, they were available in Little, Regular or Large Size. We ordered the Little and immediately regretted it. They were good.
In fact, as a testament to their commitment to their fries, the Five Guys outlets we came across listed the farms where the potatoes came from. These are all sourced locally. Fingers crossed that the fries at Five Guys Singapore will be just as good too.
The Five Guys outlet we patronised also served free peanuts. We wonder if Five Guys Singapore would be doing likewise too.
All these questions will be answered soon once Five Guys Singapore opens at Plaza Singapura, sometime between October and December 2019. We can’t wait.
In the meantime, if you want a nice burger, we recommend Hammee’s at Commonwealth Crescent. Just be sure to arrive early and be prepared to wait.
