Fancy waking up in a lush green surroundings in the heart of the city? Then Garden Pod at Gardens by the Bay, the latest concept by Shipping Container Hotel, maybe just the getaway location you’ve been looking for.

Located within Gardens by the Bay’s Serene Garden, Garden Pod is the latest project of the Shipping Container Hotel. This concept was first piloted at LaunchPad@One North.

The Garden Pod is designed by LAUD Architects and incorporates the use of a pinwheel design to make the hotel into a sculptural installation that blends into the surroundings of the Serene Garden.

LAUD Architects Director Matthew Yeo said, “We designed Garden Pod as a sculptural form to complement the plant displays and add a new dimension to the landscape.”

Garden Pod: Shipping Container Suites Designed in Line with Sustainable Principles

The suites at Garden Pod are called Jasmine, Maple, Juniper and Bamboo.

Each duplex suite of Garden Pod has 70 square metres of space, spread out over two levels and connected by a sculptural spiral staircase. The suites come with the following amenities like a living room with TV, 1 king bed & 1 Murphy queen bed, Ensuite bathroom and kitchen area. There is also a kitchen with hob and downdraft hood, indoor and outdoor dining areas.

The rooms also feature a room fragrance from Maison de L’Asie, a luxury niche fragrance house in Asia and a proudly Singaporean company.

A quick check on the Standard Rate for a room for a night in September showed that it is priced at $450 on weekdays and $600 on weekends.

The Garden Pod has also been built with sustainable elements such as photovoltaic panels, drinking glasses made from repurposed glassware and soil in terrarium displays upcycled from horticulture and landscaping waste.

Shipping Container Hotel Founder Seah Liang Chiang said, “Shipping Container Hotel is Singapore’s first movable and sustainable hotel. Our objective is to re-purpose shipping containers, trains, etc into sustainable hotels and co-living spaces in unique locations in Singapore and abroad. We are proud to collaborate with Gardens by the Bay to showcase our high-end pop-up hotel.”

Gardens by the Bay Deputy CEO Lee Kok Fatt said, “In the past few years, Gardens by the Bay has added new attractions such as Floral Fantasy, Serene Garden and most recently, Kingfisher Wetlands. With so many places of interest, Garden Pod offers an option for our visitors to fully experience these attractions in the day, then staying overnight in style and comfort amidst the tranquillity of Serene Garden. For Singaporeans who are familiar with Gardens by the Bay, Garden Pod is also an interesting new option for a staycation.”
