Kids, take on a challenge at the Gillman Barracks playground, with its mini obstacle course and play tower for kids to have some fun.
The Gillman Barracks playground is located in front of Block 9 at the Gillman Barracks arts hub. This is the building next to Handlebar restaurant, and beside the Gillman Barracks gateway arch.
A driveway comes right up to the playground, which is fenced off to prevent kids from accidentally wandering onto the road.

The playground provides kids with an outdoor play space with several different play elements that those between the ages of 2 to 12 can enjoy.
Gillman Barracks Playground: Play Tower
The most striking feature of the Gillman Barracks playground is the brown-coloured play tower. Marked out with the words “Gillman Barracks” at the top, the tower is a spot where kids can have an adventurous climb on the inside and also enjoy brightly-coloured slides.
There are two slides for kids – a green one and a red one. With curves built into them, they are great for kids to have a bit of fun sliding back down from the top of the tower.
Entryways into the tower include a cargo net at one side, and handholds for kids to climb up to the platform above.
There is also a fireman’s pole if kid wish to have an alternative way to exit the tower.
The play tower is suitable for kids between the ages of 5 to 12 years old.
Obstacle Platform and More
Other than the play tower, there is low, wooden mini obstacle course for kids to tackle too. This has probably been inspired by army obstacle courses – a nod to the playground’s location in a former military barracks.
Kids can climb up the low ramp at one end using the ropes provided.
Or there is a small circular tunnel that young ones can scramble through, along with a low rope net too.
Other play equipment at the Gillman Barracks playground include a set of swings for kids to kick up their feet into the air.
There are also spring riders for children between the ages of 2 to 5.
What parents will appreciate at the Gillman Barracks playground are the benches around the perimeter of the play area. While there are not that many, it is a place to have a seat if you can get one.
