Visiting the Wizarding World at Universal Studios Japan
Getting to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Japan is a bit of an adventure in itself. It lies down a long walkway with green hedges on either side. It feels like you are making your way to a different world, set a part from the rest of the rides and amusements of Universal Studios Japan.
Along the way in, a popular photo spot is the Flying Ford Anglia which Ron and Harry commandeered to get to Hogwarts after failing to catch the Hogwarts Express at Platform 9 3/4.

Shops at Harry Potter World Japan
Fans of the Harry Potter books will be thrilled to be able to visit many of the shops found in the books.
There is Honeydukes, the village sweetshop. Inside, you can find Bertie Bott’s Every-Flavour Beans (how does grass or earwax sound to you?) and Chocolate Frogs.
The Owl Post is another stop which you’d want to visit. It has all-manner of Harry Potter souvenirs in stock.
You can also stop outside at the Owlery and look up to the rafters to spot the various messengers perched above on standby.
Ollivanders is carries an assortment of wands which can be purchased. While you can walk through the front door, it is more fun to queue up go through the “wand selection” experience.
Rides and Attractions at The Wizarding World at Universal Studios Japan
The main attraction at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Universal Studios Japan is Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, found at the Hogwarts Castle, past Hogsmeade Village.
This is an impressive dark ride that will take you into the world of quidditch and dementors. It may be scary for young children but it was one of our favourite rides at Universal Studios Japan.
There are usually long queues but we discovered a way to get on to the ride without the queues. You can read more about this tip here.
The other ride at Universal Studios Japan’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter is The Flight of the Hippogriff, a (mild) rollercoaster.
Another popular activity is Wand Magic. Using a wand bought at Ollivanders, you can “perform magic” at special spots around the themed land.
Look out for live performances taking place throughout the day too.
Food
Butterbeer a must-try for any visitor. Most people will queue up at the big barrel close to the entrance but, at busy times, there is a second barrel to the rear, closer to Hogwarts castle.
The Three Broomsticks is the main dining hall at Wizarding World of Harry Potter. A tip would be to go early as it can fill up quickly with crowds.
Just next to The Three Broomsticks is Hog’s Head. A “pub” section where you can also get Butterbeer (plus real beer for adults).
