HAR HAR Chicken! has launched its second outlet at VivoCity on 18 October 2024.
After opening their first outlet at Junction 8 in Bishan, the team behind HAR HAR Chicken! is introducing more options for fans of har cheong gai.
HAR HAR Chicken: Founded by Foodies
The brand was co-founded by a group of Singaporean food enthusiasts, including Michelin-starred chef LG Han from Labyrinth and social media personality Lennard Yeong, an ex-engineer turned chef.
With the opening of their VivoCity outlet, HAR HAR Chicken! is introducing grilled har cheong gai, offering a healthier twist on the classic dish.

Whether you love the crispy, fried version or want to try the new grilled option, HAR HAR Chicken! offers something for everyone.
What is Har Cheong Gai?
For those unfamiliar with har cheong gai, it’s a much-loved local dish where chicken is marinated in shrimp paste and then fried to crispy perfection. HAR HAR Chicken! puts this traditional zi char favourite front and centre, offering various exciting ways to enjoy this savoury treat.
Grilled Har Cheong Gai: A Healthier Twist on a Local Favourite
At their VivoCity outlet, HAR HAR Chicken! is offering Singapore’s very first grilled har cheong gai. The boneless chicken thigh cutlets are marinated in their signature house-made shrimp paste overnight, ensuring flavour in every bite. Then, the chicken is grilled on the spot to give it a smoky, tender texture that’s juicy and full of taste, while being much lighter than the traditional fried version.
Grilled har cheong gai is available in three different options: burgers, wraps, and rice sets, so there’s something for everyone whether you need a quick snack or a filling meal.
Here are some dishes that are available:
Grilled Har Cheong Gai Burger
Made with a juicy grilled chicken thigh cutlet with tomato and lettuce, tucked between two buns. Customers can choose either a spicy version with sriracha mayo or a non-spicy version with regular mayo.
Grilled Har Cheong Gai Wrap
If you prefer something lighter, the grilled chicken thigh comes with tomato and lettuce, all wrapped up in a flour tortilla. Just like the burger, it’s available in both spicy and non-spicy options.
Grilled Har Cheong Gai Rice Set
For a heartier meal, the grilled chicken thigh is paired with fragrant chicken rice, served with achar-slaw and chicken rice chilli on the side for extra flavour.
We tried both the Grilled Har Cheong Gai Burger and the Grilled Har Cheong Gai Rice Set. Between the two, we found the burger to be a more enjoyable snack.
The rice set was tasty, but the oiliness of the chicken rice made it hard to distinguish the grilled chicken from the regular fried version, so the “healthier” aspect wasn’t as noticeable. However, the meal was still satisfying, though the shrimp paste flavour was milder than we expected.
HAR HAR Chicken Classic Har Cheong Gai
For fans of the original HAR HAR Chicken! One can still get it at the Vivo outlet. Classic items such as the HAR HAR Wings, HAR HAR Pops, and their signature HAR Burgers are available to satiate any har cheong gai cravings.
We preferred the original HAR HAR wings, which were perfectly crispy, well-battered, and full of flavour. Sometimes, the classics are best left unchanged. Among the traditional menu items, the HAR HAR Pops were our favourite—though they’re best enjoyed hot and fresh on the spot.
