The Istana Deepavali Open House 2019 takes place on Sunday, 27 October 2019, 8.30 am to 6.00 pm. Those who are visiting the Istana and its grounds can look forward to performances and activities, as well as a chance to view the grounds with friends and family.
There are also exciting programmes lined-up for the entire family awaits at the Deepavali Istana Open House 2019!
Istana Deepavali Open House 2019 Highlights
One of the highlights of the programme is a performance by Shankar Symphonies. Listen to a medley of popular Indian songs from movies such as “Slum-Dog Millionaire”, presented in different Indian dialects.
The Singapore Indian Orchestra and Choir (SIOC) by the People’s Association will also be presented at the Istana Open House 2019 for Deepavali. Enjoy a unique performance of traditional and contemporary Indian music played with traditional Chinese and Malay instruments.

Other performances at the Istana for Deepavali include a cultural dance by Zhenghua Primary, live band performances by Tampines Secondary and Geylang Methodist Secondary, and a choir performance by Greenridge Secondary.

10 am – Zhenghua Primary School Indian Dance (Ceremonial Plaza)
10.30 am – Tampines Secondary Band (Main Tent)
11 am – Greenridge Secondary Choir (Ceremonial Plaza)
2 pm – Geylang Methodist Secondary Band (Main Tent)
3.30 pm – Shankar Symphonies – Bollywood Songs (Main Tent)
5 pm – PA Orchestra and Choir (Ceremonial Plaza)
There will also be booths by Wildlife Reserves of Singapore where visitors can get a close up look at four unique species of reptiles. Other activities for kids include face painting and balloon sculpting.
The Istana Cookies, are created in collaboration with The Pine Garden bakery in commemoration of the Istana’s 150th anniversary, will also be available by way of a donation to the President’s Challenge.
Walks and Tours
Nature lovers can sign up for the Nature Guided Walk to admire the Istana’s rich flora, fauna and biodiversity.
Interested to learn more about the Istana building? Join a guided tour of the Istana main building to view selected function rooms and collections of State Gifts presented to the Singapore’s Presidents and Prime Ministers over the years.
The Istana Heritage Gallery, situated at Istana Park (opposite the main gate of the Istana along Orchard Road), will also be open from 10 am to 6 pm.
