Sandpit & Ballpit at the Tampines Library Playground
To begin with, it is already novel that you can find a children’s playground located within a library.
Once you have entered into Jolly Jungle, you will be immediately greeted by a “sand pit” made of wooden pallets, which offers a tactile, safe space for younger children to explore. This has a similar type of play experience as a traditional sand pit but with the bonus of it being less messy.
Play equipment like rakes and buckets are provided within the play pit and you will find kids gravitating towards it for some playful fun.
But there is much more to explore at Jolly Jungle.
Just behind the sand pit is a ball pit, which features a banana boat and a collection of colourful balls. This is a playful area that encourages kids to dive in and enjoy the simple joy of ball play. They can “swim” over to the banana boat and climb up on top of it and pretend to be surfing through the sea of balls.
The Treehouse at Jolly Jungle
An interesting feature of the Jolly Jungle indoor playground is its treehouse.
Unlike traditional playground structures, this treehouse is made up of bands (much like gigantic supersized rubber bands) that form layers of net for climbing. This interesting design allows children to either sit at different levels or climb up and down safely.
It adds an exciting vertical dimension to the library playground.
However, while it’s fun and challenging for older kids, it may create some panic amongst younger children who may not understand how it works and find that they have gotten stuck. Adults, take this as a word of caution to pay extra attention to your kids as they make their way around the treehouse and be sure to supervise any little kids who are venturing into the playground’s treehouse.
Four Slides & Obstacle Course
The playground has four slides, including a thrilling central three-lane slide that even young teenagers will enjoy. The slides are lit up to create a sleek semblance of speed for kids who are zipping down its lanes.
Fret not younger kids. For those who may not be ready yet to ride down these longer slide, there are three shorter slides designed specifically for the younger age set around the playground.
The main climbing frame and play structure that is built around the slides is a cleverly designed obstacle course that creates the illusion of a much larger play area. One plus point about its design is that adults need not worry about having a tough time finding their kids.
The design of play structure also makes the experience feel expansive, with various challenges that keep kids engaged as they navigate through the course. It helps to maximise the space of the playground.
A quick note, though unimportant, is that zebras are not typical jungle animals. However, we don’t think that any of the kids seem to mind.
For those with extra energy to expend, there is a bouncing zone at the back of the playground with two trampolines. Kids can jump up and down with glee and have a great, carefree time.
Party Space at Jolly Jungle
You would not normally get an invitation to a birthday party at the library, would you? After all, libraries are meant to be quiet places. However, it is very possible to receive an invite to the indoor playground within Tampines Regional Library, especially since there is a party space at Jolly Jungle.
Located next to the bouncing zone is the indoor playground’s jungle-themed party space. This is both neat and spacious. As part of the theming, the party space has tree stumps as seats and a balloon arch that is designed to resemble jungle foliage.
