It is said that big things come in small packages and that’s certainly the case with the LUMOS FLOAT projector, a sleek home cinema projector with an innovative stand that gives it plenty of flexibility.
LUMOS is a local Singaporean brand that launched its first home cinema projector in 2021. Since then, it has chalked up over 2,000 five-star reviews and we have seen LUMOS evolve its line of projectors to become better and better over the years.
LUMOS FLOAT 360° Rotatable Projector
LUMOS FLOAT is the brand’s latest projector. It is a 360° rotatable projector that can not only project on walls but is designed to be flexible enough to project up onto the ceiling as well!

This is possible thanks to a simple yet genius innovation: a stand that comes attached to the projector.
SkyTrack Stand
The SkyTrack, as the integrated stand is called, can be used to set up the projector on any convenient surface without the need for a separate or bulky stand. Since the projector’s footprint is just 22 cm by 14 cm, it requires very little space and can easily fit on a tabletop.
The projector also comes in Gold, Silver or Pink so that you can choose a colour that fits in with your home’s decor.
Swivelling the projector on its stand allows you to rotate it to any angle. This means can be placed close to the floor and angled upwards, or even set up high on a bookcase and have it angled downwards.
In the extreme case, the projector can even be swivelled straight up to cast the image on the ceiling so that you can watch a movie while lying down in bed!
Hanging Up the LUMOS FLOAT Projector
And there’s more. The SkyTrack stand can be used to hang the LUMOS FLOAT Projector on the wall.
Traditionally, mounting a projector involves getting a contractor to attach the projector to the ceiling. However, that is not necessary with the LUMOS FLOAT.
The projector can be attached to a wall using 3M Command hooks that you can buy from any hardware store.
Weighing in at just 750g, the LUMOS FLOAT is very light.
We pasted two stick-on 3M Command hooks that can hold up to 3.6kg per hook onto the wall. Then, using the cleverly designed slit in the projector’s SkyTrack stand, we simply hung it up like a painting without having to drill into the wall.
The 3M Command hooks are designed to be removed without leaving a mark on the wall. This makes it good for a temporary setup. Alternatively, you can use nails or a normal wall hook for a permanent installation.
Once hung up on the wall, the LUMOS FLOAT looks rather neat.
Vivid Home Cinema
The LUMOS FLOAT projector only requires a distance of 1.5 metres to project a 50″ screen on a wall. With a greater distance, you can get up to a massive 150″ screen that can fill an entire wall.
With up to 1080p resolution and 3,000 lumens of brightness, you can enjoy a rich and vivid viewing experience.
The projector has built-in speakers that provide clear sound quality. When we first turned it on, we thought it was already rather loud and were surprised to find that it was only at around 20% of the volume level.
Get Up and Running Instantly With Smart Version
There are two versions of the LUMOS FLOAT projector available: Regular and Smart.
The Regular version, priced at just $199, is a standard projector that you will need to connect your media player to.
The Smart version ships with apps like YouTube, Netflix and Spotify pre-installed on its Android operating system and is available at just $298.
We love how fast and easy it is to start enjoying videos with the Smart version. It is simply a matter of powering on the projector, connecting to Wi-Fi and using the remote to start accessing videos and movies.
There is also the option of wirelessly phone casting from a smartphone. This meant that we could also share TikToks and other videos from the phone onto the big screen without the need for additional cables.
The projector also has other traditional input options such as HDMI and an AV jack (with an accompanying RCA connector adaptor). These are great for connecting a set-top box, laptop, gaming console and other devices.
Two Good-to-Know Points
After testing out the LUMOS FLOAT, we were thoroughly impressed by it. However, there are two pointers that may be good to know for anyone considering getting it.
When we first hung up the projector on the wall, it was set up to project a nice and crisp image on the wall.
Then we swivelled it up to project onto the ceiling. This meant that the projector had to project the screen from the wall to the ceiling with very different throw lengths. As a result, the distance from the wall-mounted projector to the top of the image was much shorter than the distance from the projector to the bottom of the image.
As a result, at this angle, the top of the image was in focus while the bottom of the image was soft. This is purely a matter of physics where there are two different focal lengths and not a fault of the projector. It is subtle and does not affect the viewing experience, however, it is worth bearing in mind if you want to use the projector to switch between projecting on the wall and the ceiling. If you want to project the image to the ceiling, we would suggest setting up the projector on a tabletop.
The second good-to-know point that we observed was that the LUMOS FLOAT comes with a straight two-pin power cord. However, the straight part of the power cord projector rubs against the stand when the projector body and the stand are lined up. Nonetheless, this does not affect the rotating feature of the projector and you will still be able to rotate it freely.
This isn’t an issue if you are planning to place the projector on a table to project on the wall. For those with the use case of placing the projector on a table and pointing straight up at the ceiling or swivelling it back and forth, this can be easily solved with a right-angled two-pin power cord to create sufficient clearance between the plug and the stand.
Overall Thoughts on the LUMOS FLOAT
LUMOS keeps coming up with increasingly innovative projectors and the LUMOS FLOAT is no exception. The compact and stylish projector delivers a great home cinema viewing experience and its clever design with the integrated stand makes it extremely versatile.
It is portable and can be easily set up on a table for a party or hung up so it “floats” on the wall.
And at the price point of just $298 for the Smart version, we think LUMOS FLOAT makes setting up an entertainment room at home more accessible than ever before.
