“Good things to eat” is the tagline of homegrown bistro The Marmalade Pantry, and good things we definitely did eat during our recent visit. The Marmalade Pantry serves up modern bistro cuisine infused with a local twist, and has kid-friendly menu options as well, making it perfect for a special occasion or a family outing.
The Marmalade Pantry: Alfresco dining vibes with indoor comforts
Designed in the style of an alfresco cafe, Marmalade Pantry’s Anchorpoint outlet offers the best of both worlds – diners get to enjoy the chill vibes of an outdoor cafe without having to give up the comforts of air-conditioning (practically a must-have in sunny Singapore!).
Lush greenery and vibrant blooms adorn the open-concept dining space, while regularly spaced streetlamp-esque lights complete the outdoor cafe look.

We were seated at a cosy corner booth, which gave the kids ample space to move around while waiting for the food to be served.
Personable service with a smile
We were warmly greeted upon arrival and made to feel right at home. We really appreciated how the staff took the time to explain the menu to us, even highlighting staff picks and healthier options.
Once we were ready with our orders, the staff attended to us promptly despite it being a pretty brisk weekday night with many tables filled.
Hearty and wholesome bistro fare
Taking advantage of the kids-dine-free offer (more on that below), we decided on two mains and two kids’ meals.
The Spicy Chicken Burger ($26) was an extremely satisfying explosion of textures and flavours. The juicy chicken thigh was perfectly fried to a crisp and slathered in a spicy-sweet garlic soy sauce that definitely gave a kick; a tangy slaw and creamy mayonnaise rounded out the flavours and left us craving for more.
Even our feisty 3 year old couldn’t resist a few bites, despite the fact that the spice level was almost too hot for her to handle.
The burger is served with fries (which we opted to change to sweet potato fries), and a crunchy side salad.
The Crispy Skin Salmon ($32) had, true to its name, a shatteringly-crisp skin, while the inside was cooked to a perfect medium. So juicy and flavourful, it had our kids abandoning all forms of table etiquette and grabbing chunks off the plate with their bare hands. The salmon was paired with a wild rice pilaf and some tasty greens to round it out.
From the kids’ menu, we ordered the Mushroom Tomato Pasta ($15), which was served with a generous sprinkling of shredded cheese. Our pasta-loving girls slurped it up heartily, while the adults couldn’t resist taking a bite (or two) as well.
The Ham & Cheese Toast ($15), served with fries on the side, was filled with a hearty serving of honey baked ham and gooey melted cheese, and was a hit with our bread-loving boy. Parents will be pleased to know that it is served on multi-grain bread, giving an extra boost of vitamins and minerals.
To end off our meal on a sweet note, we ordered some cakes to share. The Pandan Gula Melaka ($14) features pandan chiffon layered with Gula Melaka and coconut flakes, showered in toasted coconut shavings (or “sprinkles” according to our 3 year old). This cake was more popular with the kids, and we really enjoyed the fresh, local flavours.
The Cherry Amaretto ($15) features a brown sugar vanilla sponge with tart cherries, chopped pecans and chocolate, laced in almond amaretto cream cheese frosting. This cake had decidedly more adult flavours, and the classic pairing of cherry with amaretto was simply exquisite.
Fancy a cup of coffee or tea to go with your cake? The Marmalade Pantry is currently running a weekday teatime promotion (3pm onwards), where you can enjoy a slice of cake with your caffeine fix at just $15.
Or if cupcakes are more your cup of tea, you can get one with your cuppa at just $10.
For the kids, the highlight of the meal was no doubt the scoop of ice cream (choose from classic vanilla, chocolate or strawberry) that comes with every kids’ meal. A sweet ending to a delicious meal!
