When it comes to dim sum in Singapore, one of the household names is Peach Garden. The well-established brand has been around for decades and has multiple outlets that range from fine dining to casual restaurants.
You will be able to find Peach Garden outlets at locations such as OCBC Centre (which has splendid view that overlooks the Padang), Changi Airport Terminal 2 and Thomson Plaza (which had push cart dim sum when we last visited). Hankering for some dim sum, we paid a visit to the Peach Garden at The Metropolis for lunch.
Dim Sum at Peach Garden Restaurant
Because of its location, Peach Garden restaurant at The Metropolis was filled with business types from the offices in the area. While it boasts an impressive menu of Cantonese dishes, we were there for the dim sum.

We ordered the steamed dim sum and began our meal with the classics of Steamed Siew Mai and Steamed Fresh Prawn Dumpling or har kow.
The Steamed Siew Mai at Peach Garden is amongst the largest that we have come across. It had a large prawn crowning it as well as more prawns inside. It was a substantial bite that was crafted to satisfy. We would rate it a 3.8/5.
The har kow was nice and fresh with the prawns wrapped up in the the dumpling’s delicate skin and steamed to create a tender bite. We would rate it a 3.8/5 as well.
We also ordered the Steamed BBQ Pork Bun, another staple of any dim sum meal. The bread was nice and fluffy but we personally found that the meat was slightly on the sweet side. 3.7 out of 5.
The Steamed Bean Skin Roll came in a deep dish of brown gravy and looked luscious. We would recommend eating it while it is still hot. Overall, we would give it at 3.8 out of 5 rating.
Moving on to the fried items, we also ordered the Deep-fried Bean Skin Roll with Prawn and Seaweed, Deep-fried Prawn Dumpling with Salad Cream, Deep-fried Prawn Roll with Mango and Vegetarian Deep-fried Golden Vermicelli Spring Roll.
Personally, we were not that blown away by any of them in particular. The balance of the Deep-fried Prawn Roll with Mango felt like it needed more of the sweetness of the mango, but that could be more of a personal preference.
The Vegetarian Deep-fried Golden Vermicelli Spring Roll was an interesting dish with the crunch of the filling complementing the crispiness of the exterior skin.
One satisfying dish was the Minced Pork and Century Egg Porridge. The smoothness of the porridge hit the spot and it felt like a big bowl of comfort food.
We ended our meal with the Steamed Creamy Custard Bun.
Overall Thoughts about Peach Garden
On the whole, the dim sum at Peach Garden is acceptable. For us, the standout dishes were the siew mai and porridge. What we did appreciate was the overall ambiance at the restaurant. The brand’s convenient locations all over the island make it a great place to meet up with friends and enjoy good company over some baskets of dim sum and sips of Chinese tea.
Also be sure to keep a lookout for interesting promotions at Peach Garden. For example, there is a popular Weekend Afternoon Tea Dim Sum Buffet at Thomson Plaza. At this time of writing, the Chinatown Point outlet has a High Tea A La Carte Buffet.
And, as part of its 22 anniversary celebration, there is a Hong Kong Dim Sum Anniversary Special with discounts of up to 50% off if a diner has at least a digit 2 in their NRIC or birthdate.
