Since first opening in Singapore at ION Orchard in 2022, the team has set their sights on a new flagship concept that serves up all-day meals and drinks at Dempsey Hill, which will open on 23 September 2024.

Nestled in deep within Dempsey Hill, Puzzle Coffee can be spotted by its iconic logo. Although its location requires a bit of walking if you are not travelling by car, the coffeehouse promises a quaint and peaceful environment away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
The interior of the cafe is reminiscent of a modern farmhouse style, with spacious seating and cosy decor. Patrons can look forward to purchasing Puzzle Coffee’s merchandise and beans, as well as delicious bakes on the left of the cafe, and watch the chefs put together delicious meals in their open-concept kitchen on the right.

The menu boasts a good variety of mains and desserts, that have all been carefully crafted with ingredients made from scratch. Some good hearty staples include the Reuben Sandwich ($20), a sourdough sandwich that packs layers of tender beef brisket prepared and cooked over 5 hours, between slices of gruyère cheese and tangy sauerkraut.
My personal favourites include the Prawn Linguine ($30), a delicious pasta with linguine cooked al-dente, mixed with a sauce that blends capers, chilli, dill and cherry tomatoes, with a touch of white wine and butter. The dish also includes generous portions of juicy and large prawns.
The Thai Mango Salad ($24) is also a delightful option that takes on the classic Thai dish Som Tam. It is richly packed with house-made cold-pickled green mango, bean sprouts, chopped mint and coriander. To add to the crunch factor, homemade candied peanuts and crispy shallots are mixed into the salad, making each bite refreshingly sweet and sour.
There is also a good variety of dessert and breakfast options available, including the signature Buttermilk Pancakes ($26), featuring a stack of fluffy pancakes layered with mixed berry compote between each piece. It is also topped with a generous variety of fresh fruits, lemon curd and cheesecake mousse infused with citrus and vanilla, and not without whipped cream. It is a delicious and filling dish that has a delicate balance of sweetness.
An item not to be missed is the Chia Seed Pudding ($17). This dish infuses almond milk with chai tea leaves to create a fragrant and flavourful base, with chia seeds and pitted dates added to create a creamy and chewy pudding. It is complemented with a generous scoop of dragon fruit sorbet and fresh fruits to accompany each bite. With its unique ingredients, this is definitely a special dish that is not too sweet, yet light and refreshing.
I really enjoyed the Cold-Drip Tiramisu ($21), which not only soaks their ladyfingers in Kahlua (Coffee Liquor), but in Marsala wine as well. The use of cold drip espresso in its creation makes the dessert an overall win in my books, as it is rather rich in flavour and its sweet and creamy texture has me reaching for seconds.
As for drinks, look forward to their specialty coffee, including Melbourne Magic, a double ristretto shot of their signature coffee blend that uses lesser milk which allows the coffee’s sweetness to shine through.
For non-coffee drinkers, the Strawberry Matcha is a delicious option. Using ceremonial grade matcha, the umami taste of the matcha delivers a wonderful balance with the sweetness of the strawberry syrup. Other options such as hot chocolate and biscoff latte are available as well.
