In Singapore, we are familiar with the blue bins used for recycling. But, did you know that there is a blue recycling truck playground that can be found at Bukit Batok for kids?
Just a short distance away from HomeTeamNS Bukit Batok, the recycling truck playground is a cute neighbourhood play spot where kids can have some fun.
Recycling Truck Playground in Bukit Batok
On one side of the truck, there are words that read “I AM A RECYCLING TRUCK”, much like what you will find on the trucks that ply the neighbourhoods to collect materials from the blue recycling bins.

On the other side of the truck, the message is printed loud and clear: Reuse, Reduce and Recycle.
Kids can make their way into the recycling truck playground from the rear.
A ramp leads up towards the cab area where there are two bright yellow steering wheels. The truck structure is similar to the one found at the Fruit Truck Playground in Tengah.
There are panels that have been themed with dust bins with big and cute eyes. Amongst the play panels are gears and a tic tac toe board as well as slogans like “Drive the gear of CHANGE” and “SAVE OUR PLANET”.
The recycling truck playground is also fitted with a slide that kids can use to have some fun.
Driving the Change
By the edge of the playground, there is a signboard that shares more information about how sustainable materials have been used in the construction of the playground.
For example, High-Density Polyethylene, a material that is widely recyclable, has been used for the panels. Recycled plastic lumber has been used to make the outdoor benches while the floor has been made out of recycled rubber from sources such as used car tyres.
