Step into the forests of Borneo or dive into the seas of Southeast Asia at REWILD Our Planet, a social augmented reality experience at ArtScience Museum from 6 April to 2 June 2019.

Travel the Planet

REWILD Our Planet blends storytelling with technology to allow visitors to come together and experience four natural landscapes, each representing the one-of-the-last wilderness places on Earth. Go from the forests of Borneo and India to the Oceans of Asia to the Grasslands of Mongolia to the Frozen Arctic, all through the lens of a Google Pixel 3.

The AR experience makes use of 4K footage from the new Netflix original documentary Our Planet. Narrated by respected naturalist Sir David Attenborough, Our Planet is an eight-part documentary that focuses on the diversity of the natural world and presents stunning images of never-before-filmed environments. It was filmed in 50 countries across the world over 3,500 filming days.

At the ArtScience Museum, groups of participants can come together to build natural landscapes in 3D at REWILD Our Planet. Through experiences such as unlocking global weather patterns and animal encounters, they will gain an understanding of shared solutions and be able to make a pledge to bring nature back.

Immersive and Interactive

The REWILD Our Planet experience was jointly developed by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), Google, Netflix, ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands and PHORIA. It combines Our Planet footage with Google’s ARCore technology to showcase the planet’s diversity. It is intended to spark conversations about the fragility of the planet and discussions about what conservation efforts needed to protect it.

REWILD Our Planet

Singapore’s ArtScience Museum is the first venue to host REWILD Our Planet. As a modular AR experience, it can travel to other locations and is scheduled to head to Dolby SoHo in New York City and We The Curious in Bristol after its stint in Singapore.

Honor Harger, Executive Director of ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands said: “REWILD Our Planet is an immersive and interactive exhibition that shows how climate change impacts all living creatures. It uses cutting edge technology to transport visitors to some of the world’s most jaw-dropping landscapes. REWILD Our Planet follows up on what we did together with WWF and Google with Into The Wild, our augmented reality experience about rainforests in South East Asia. The users of that project have so far planted over 10,000 trees in Sumatra. REWILD Our Planet is even more ambitious. It combines art and technology to encourage all of us to play an active role in the conservation of our world.”

REWILD Our Planet can be experienced at the ArtScience Museum’s Inspiration Gallery, Level 4, from 10 am to 7 pm daily. Each session will last 10 minutes. Admission is free.
