The spirit of Christmas is love, joy and kindness, thus, this Christmas, artworks depicting acts of kindness by the community during the past year will light up the facades of three iconic Marina Bay landmarks as part of the Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2021’s Share the Moment projections.
Presented by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), Share the Moment is one of the highlights of Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2021 as it takes on a different format this year with the focus to prioritise public safety as we reflect on 2020 and welcome the coming year.
Although there will be no fireworks, The Fullerton Hotel Singapore and the Merlion at Marina Bay will be lit up starting Christmas Day. There will also be a projection show reflecting hopes and aspirations for Singapore starting 26 December, on the facade of ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands.

Share the Moment is a community project organised in partnership with the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre (NVPC), which features a collection of student artworks projected onto the facades– The Fullerton Hotel Singapore, the Merlion and ArtScience Museum.
It will feature a total of 17 artworks by 24 students from schools including the LASALLE College of the Arts, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) and Singapore Institute of Technology – The Glasgow School of Art (SIT-GSA).
Inspirations for artworks
The students drew inspiration from efforts by organisations and individuals who helped others in need during the Covid-19 pandemic and whose actions touched the hearts of fellow Singaporeans.
This includes initiatives by Beng Who Cooks, a young Singaporean duo who prepared and distributed more than 50 free meals to Singaporeans daily during the Circuit Breaker period.
Another initiative is by Little Changemakers, that called on children to cheer on frontline heroes through folding origami hearts as tokens of appreciation.
The facade of the ArtScience Museum will also be lit with hopes and aspirations for Singapore.
The projections on The Fullerton Hotel Singapore and the Merlion will commence on 25 December 2020, while those on ArtScience Museum will start on 26 December 2020. Members of the public can head down to Marina Bay to enjoy these projection mapping shows, which will be on display till 31 December 2020. The shows will run every 15 minutes from 8.00 pm to 10.30 pm nightly.
Shine a Light display
Visitors can also catch the Shine a Light display – now ongoing at The Promontory @ Marina Bay till 31 December 2020. This 3-minute light animation choreographed to symbolise hopes and aspirations for a new beginning will run every 15 minutes from 8.00 pm to 10.30 pm nightly.
The public is advised to adhere to prevailing safe management measures and should consider returning at a later timing if the area is crowded.
