Impressing guests since 1974, Singapore Cable Car today runs on one of the most sophisticated cable car systems in Asia, and is the only cableway that runs into and within Sentosa.
Connecting two buzzing destinations – Sentosa Island and Faber Peak Singapore – the Singapore Cable Car Sky Network consists of more than 100 cabins, spanning over 5km.
The Singapore Cable Car Sky Network is made up of two main lines: Mount Faber Line takes you from Mount Faber Station to Sentosa Station, while Sentosa Line gives you access to the main attractions on the island.
Singapore Cable Car Sentosa Line – A Fun Way To Get Around the Island
Given that our staycation was in Village Hotel Sentosa, I thought it would be super fun to get around the Island via the Singapore Cable Car Network on Sentosa, especially since the little one has never been in a cable car!

A mere five-minute walk from Merlion Station, one of the stops on Singapore Cable Car’s Sentosa Line, Village Hotel Sentosa is brilliantly located – and with a two-year-old who almost always wants to be carried, it really helped to be able to hop on and off the cable cars!
Our first stop for the day was Butterfly Park & Insect Kingdom which is right by Imbiah Lookout Station.
Although Imbiah Lookout is very easily accessible on foot from Village Hotel Sentosa, it was such a relief to be seated in one of the lovely Cable Cars that day – and the breeze! It sure beat walking levels up in the hot sun, while dragging my toddler along.
Other attractions via Imbiah Lookout Station that weren’t in our day’s itinerary include Skyline Luge Sentosa, Madame Tussauds Singapore, and Sentosa 4D Adventureland. There are also plenty of F&B options around if you want to hang out before heading back to the hotel.
Before boarding the Cable Car, I thought my daughter would cling on to me for dear life, but she was really brave about it, and so excited to be close to the sky and clouds.
Also, with the Cable Cars moving slowly and very smoothly, it was a great first “unfrightening” time for her. If you’re unsure and/or have your doubts, rest assured that I didn’t experience a single sudden jerk!
In addition to lift access, Mummies and Daddies with babies in prams will be happy to know that the Cable Cars are very roomy, and again, slow-moving, so it’s certainly safe enough to push your babies on-board.
After our visit to Butterfly Park & Insect Kingdom – and an ice-cream – we hopped back into a Singapore Cable Car on the Sentosa Line and made our way to Siloso Point Station for some sandplay on Siloso Beach.
Once she’d had her fill of sand, quite literally, we were back on the Singapore Cable Car Sky Network and returning to the Merlion Station as we were in need of showers and snoozes.
Singapore Cable Car Sky Pass Unlimited
If you’re planning a weekend staycation on Sentosa Island for the family, I highly recommend getting the Singapore Cable Car Sky Pass Unlimited.
Yes, this is a slightly pricy way of getting around Sentosa, but the views and the experience – your children will be talking about it for months on end! Plus. the queues for getting in a Cable Car are far shorter than those of other modes of transport. Winning!
