It seems appropriate that Remembering Our Founders: The Making of a Memorial, an exhibition in support of efforts to build a Founders’ Memorial to Singapore’s early leaders, is being held at Gardens by the Bay. Based on a survey, more than 70% of Singaporeans selected Bay East Garden at Gardens by the Bay as the preferred site for the new memorial.

At the Remembering Our Founders exhibition, visitors can look out to the possible site for the memorial, located across the waters of the Kallang River. The land at the Bay East Garden is still, for the most part, undeveloped parkland.

The free exhibition is currently being held at Gardens by the Bay’s Waterview Room till 30 April 2017.

Remembering Our Founders: The Making of a Memorial is a chance for Singaporeans to share their views about how the Founders Memorial should be built.

“We want to engage Singaporeans over the coming months on the Founders’ Memorial. We seek to tap their ideas to conceptualise a memorial that will best reflect the founding ideas and values that will continue to inspire us all, including generations of Singaporeans to come,” Mr Lee Tzu Yang, Chairman, Founders’ Memorial Committee, is quoted as saying.
