The first dish served up was the Christmas Chicken Waffles ($23.43 single portion, $38.00 sharing 4 to 6 pax). The chicken was tender, juicy, and the golden brown batter provided a great crunch to the dish. Paired with honey, it brings out the best mix of sweet and savoury flavours. I would highly recommend this dish, but prefer if the waffles were thicker in size.

Review of Swensen’s Christmas Menu

The meat platter unfortunately left more to be desired. The beef cheeks had a higher fat to meat ratio and felt chewy. The chicken breast couldn’t live up to the expectations set by the previous chicken waffles, and tasted slightly dry and tough. I enjoyed the hickory BBQ baked beans the most out of this dish. The tangy mustard sauce took me by surprise, as it did not taste or look like mustard sauce. It had a tomato flavour to it with a very light hint of spice which helped make the meat dishes slightly more enjoyable.

Seafood platter

The seafood platter was a delight. The scallops was slightly chewy, but had a nice buttery taste to it. The succulent king prawn was my favourite, with garlic which enhanced the flavour. The salmon was slightly flaky but tasted rather normal, and the seabass was well cooked with a mildly sweet flavour to it.

Claus is Comin'

For dessert, I got a taste of Claus is Comin’ ($12.63). Featuring three new flavours for the festive season and a paper chimney with dry ice smoke coming out for effect – this is the one to get if you want a bit of everything. The biscoff cheese cake had a sweet caramelised flavour with a light hint of spice. The s’mores ice cream was my favourite, with marshmallows and butter biscuits layered into every bite. The non-alcoholic tiramisu has a strong coffee taste to it, but i was not wowed by its flavour.
