There is a green with red trimming train, made up of a locomotive with carriages in tow, that kids can play and climb about on.

Right at the front of the locomotive is a red cowcatcher that kids can scale. Then they can crawl into the black boiler of the locomotive to enter into the cab area.

Smoke billows out of the funnel at the front while you can imagine the large red wheels of the Teck Whye train playground spinning round and round.

Climbing at the train playground in Teck Whye View

Once kids get into the train, there are plenty of climbing opportunities with cargo nets (with some bats above) and ropes strung out across the carriages.

Climb about the train playground

Kids can climb aboard and make their way through the train, climbing about and through all the rope obstacles to reach the rear of the train playground.

Carriage at the Teck Whye View Playground

The very last carriage is a box-like carriage that looks like it has been tilted on its side. This reminded us of the Tiong Bahru Tilting Train playground.

Water Tower Playground

Water Tower Playground

Steam trains need water to run and just beside the Teck Whye train playground, there is a tall play structure that is themed to be a water tower that can fill up the locomotive.

Clock face

This impressive-looking water tower playground has two huts that reach up into the sky. One of this has a clock face on it, perhaps another nod to trains and train schedules. The huts are interconnected by a sheltered walkway.

Climbing up the Water Tower Playground

Reaching the top of the water tower playground is a matter of either climbing up the bouncy rope pyramid on one end or scaling the multiple levels of the tower at the other end.

Grey slides

Two grey slides lead down from the taller tower. Choose either to go fast on a straight tube slide or twirl your way down from the higher tube slide.

Train Adventure Wonderland

Train Adventure Wonderland

Younger kids are not left out from the fun at the Teck Whye View playground. Those between 2 to 5 years old have a Train Adventure Wonderland playground.

Here, there is another train. Red in colour, this train playground structure is more suitable for younger kids.

Other play equipment at this toddler playground at Teck Whye View include a little Tower of Fun, hammocks, teeter totters and cute daisies that kids can sit around.

Swings at the Teck Whye Playground

There are also a set of swings at the Teck Whye View playground.

Train-themed Neighbourhood

Train-themed Neighbourhood

When you pay a visit to Teck Whye View, do also take a moment to appreciate the theming that has gone into the neighbourhood.

Teck Whye View is just beside the Rail Corridor where trains used to run past.

When we think of the trains that ran along the former railway line, we will often remember the KTM diesel trains like the one commemorated at this KTM Train Playground.

However, the rail line has a history that stretches back to 1909 and there were different types of branch lines too. And before there were diesel trains, there were steam locomotives too.

We were most surprised to learn that there were Hawthorn Leslie steam locomotives in use along the Admiralty Military Railway branch line that ran to the Naval Shipyard in Sembawang. One is now preserved in the UK and name “Singapore”. And the colours look surprisingly like the one at the Teck Whye View train playground!

Truss Bridges

We also appreciated how the railing around the neighbourhood looked similar to the truss bridges found at the Bukit Timah and Upper Bukit Timah.

Train themed seating

One of the shelters even has train-shaped seating. There is even a train motif floor marking in the neighbourhood.

Where is the Teck Whye Train Playground

You can find the Teck Whye train playground in front of Block 161A Jalan Teck Whye. It is just beside the Pang Sua Park Connector and Junction 10 shopping mall.
