The Italian Festival, currently ongoing till 1 July 2022, is a chance for Singaporeans to get a taste of Italy through arts, cultural and gastronomic experiences.
Organised by the Embassy of Italy in collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency and Italian Chamber of Commerce of Singapore, the Italian Festival includes a variety of events taking place all over the island. We highlight a few notable ones taking place around the city.

Rose Romance
This year’s Rose Romance at Gardens by the Bay not only celebrates one of the world’s most popular flowers but also the idyllic Italian summer. The flowers are displayed against the backdrop of a landscape inspired by Italian towns and countryside. There’s even a balcony based on Verona’s famous Juliet balcony too. Rose Romance is now on till 12 June 2022.

Italian Landscape – Watercolour Painting and Ceramic Workshop
If the scene at Rose Romance moves you, you can sign up for a watercolour painting workshop for adults and kids (8 to 12) on the afternoon of 21 May organised by the APICS Italian Cultural Centre in collaboration with CocoArt Studio. From 18 May to 17 June 2022, take a photographic journey through Italy with the images of Alinari Foundation, the oldest photographic agency in the world. The exhibition consists of three sections which offers a visual narrative of Italy. The photography exhibition is being held at two locations, the Visual Arts Centre at Dhoby Ghaut Green (18 May till 15 Jun) and Level 9 of the National Library at Victoria Street (20 May to 17 Jun).
Building Venice – Immersive tour
Taking place on 1 and 8 June at 7 pm, Building Venice is a unique art workshop which focuses on 1,500 years of architecture and urban development in Venice. It is suitable those who are interested in Venetian history and culture. Email admin@apics.com.sg for more details.
A Weekend at the Opera: An Italian Journey through Beauty and Romance
Being held at the Flower Hall, Gardens by the Bay, this half-an-hour presentation taking place three times a day on 4 and 5 June will feature soprano Marcella di Garbo and baritone Lorenzo Barbieri performing a selection of arias and Italian art songs. pre-registration opens on 23 May.
You can also watch them performing at the Esplanade Recital Studio on 7 Jun, 7.30 pm. Admission to this performance is free.
Virtual Reality Camp on Italian Art by Fantasium
At this kids camp taking place on 3 June, participants will work with an array of virtual brushes to create their own VR versions of Italian art. Email admin@apics.com.sg for more details.
