It’s never too early to instil a sense of national pride and understanding of Singapore, our homeland. With young ones, it can be a matter of engaging them with toddler-friendly National Day activity sheets like colouring pages, games and craft printables, for them to have some fun.
Toddler-friendly Activity Sheets: An Inspirational Springboard For Augmented Learning
We were recently introduced to some toddler-friendly activity sheets that have already been made and are available on Twinkl Singapore.
Rather than creating our own or have to search through the internet for individual resources, there was an entire library available on one site. With National Day just around the corner, we gave some of these ready-made Twinkl Singapore activity sheets a go.

For a start, my Little Pea’s morning was fully occupied with the “National Day Display Pack” which gave her a wonderful immersion into everything about the Singapore Flag. I could augment her learning about the different colours (red, white) and shapes (crescent, star, rectangle, circles).
The different flag worksheets also provided a platform for her to practise her creativity in different mediums (finger painting, stickers, stamping) and develop her finer motor skills.
She particularly enjoyed associating the colours with an extended activity of making her own NDP celebratory babycino, with white marshmallows toppings as an after-activity treat!
We also loved the bilingual “Word Card Packs” and paired that together with the “Singapore Map Pack”.
Little Pea was intrigued by the shape of our Little Red Dot Singapore island as she traced the island outline with her little finger, and was also able to identity the word and letters of “Singapore” after running through the different National-themed key words.
Taking it Further with Experiential Learning
“I Spy With My Little Eye” was a springboard activity for spontaneous experiential learning as we used this activity sheet from Twinkl Singapore as a checklist on outings as we took public transport around.
Little Pea enjoyed picking out her red outfit with her red hair tie, and loved building up white LEGO sculptures at Olafur Eliasson’s exhibition at the Singapore Art Museum.
Little Pea was so happy to spot the red and white buses as we waited at bus-stops, and anything red along the route like HDB flats. Stretching her perspective upwards was trying to spy our Singapore flags – thankfully she spotted some “early-bird” HDB units hanging theirs!
Little Pea was always so happy to “star” each activity on her “I Spy” checklist after a day out.
An Array of Singapore-themed Activity Sheets for Toddlers
Twinkl Singapore also offers a diverse range of related-resources on Singapore like “Singapore Landmarks” word search, “Reading comprehension” and even a printable “National Anthem”. These are indeed life-long learning resources that are not only versatile for older children, but also compact and portable-on-the-go for travelling.
I definitely look forward to continue to journey with Twinkl Singapore’s resources with Little Pea as she continues to grow up, and to be inspired by the world around her. The versatile materials provided on this resource platform helps ease a lot of pre-preparation work, and provides inspiration to augment her learning in so many diverse ways. We are thankful.
To celebrate National Day, Twinkl Singapore is offering free access to Singapore-themed resources from 3 to 12 August 2024. You can also create a free account with a first 30 days free trial to download selected resources for free!
