Minion Land is one step closer to becoming a reality in Singapore with a ground-breaking ceremony taking place today, 26 May 2022, with Minister of State for Trade & Industry, and Culture, Community and Youth, Mr Alvin Tan in attendance.
Groundbreaking Ceremony for Minion Land
Minion Land is set to open in 2024. It replaces the former Madagascar zone at the themed part. Mnion Land will feature a variety of rides, themed shops and restaurants for visitors of all ages.
One of the rides at Minion Land will be Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, an immersive motion-simulator 3D ride where visitors are “transformed” into Minion as they help Gru’s family save the day.
What’s more, Universal Studios Singapore’s Minion Land will also be getting a world’s first original ride that is exclusive to the park.

Transforming Resorts World Sentosa into a Sustainable Tourism Destination
In addition to the construction of Minion Land, Resorts World Sentosa is also targeting to attain Zero Energy Building certification from the Building and Construction Authority when Minion Land opens. This is part of wider efforts to transform Resorts World Sentosa into a sustainable tourism destination.
Minister of State for Trade & Industry, and Culture, Community and Youth, Mr Alvin Tan, said, “I am very optimistic that with the easing of restrictions and the opening of travel, there will soon be more people coming in to Resorts World Sentosa, to USS, and to Minion Land when it opens in 2024.”
Resorts World Sentosa CEO, Mr Tan Hee Teck, said, “We are excited to break ground on Universal Studios Singapore’s newest themed zone, Minion Land. Resorts World Sentosa aims to bring fresh and compelling experiences to our guests through timely rejuvenation of our line-up of attractions, as we continue to welcome more international travellers with the opening of borders. Even as we embark on our expansion plans, Resorts World Sentosa stays committed to ensuring that our developments are sustainable and in sync with Singapore’s larger sustainable tourism goals.”
