Visit the Mexican navy’s sailing ship, ARM Cuauhtémoc, at VivoCity Waterfront Promenade. It will be here in Singapore from 22 August to 27 August 2024 with public open days on specific dates.
The ARM Cuauhtémoc is a Mexican navy sail training ship. It will be arriving in Singapore on Thursday 22 August 2024 at 10 am before departing on Tuesday, 27 August 2024, 10 am.
The last time that the ARM Cuauhtémoc was in Singapore was in July 2017 as part of a voyage that covered more than 10 different counties including China, Philippines and India.

While in Singapore, the legendary ship, a symbol of Mexico’s maritime heritage and spirit, will be open to the public. This is a unique opportunity to experience a piece of Mexico’s rich naval tradition right at the VivoCity Waterfront Promenade. Admission to the ship is free.
Known as the “Ambassador and Gentleman of the Seas,” the ARM Cuauhtémoc has visited more than 200 ports across 60 countries, amassing 5,862 days at sea and covering a remarkable 756,085 nautical miles—equivalent to 35 circumnavigations of the globe.
This year, the Cuauhtémoc embarked on its “Tricontinental 2024” training cruise on May 6, carrying a message of peace and goodwill from the Mexican people. As part of this journey, the vessel is visiting 13 ports in 10 friendly countries, with Singapore as one of its esteemed destinations.

Exploring the ARM Cuauhtémoc Ship
Here is a look at the experience from our last visit to the ARM Cuauhtémoc back in 2017, which is similar to our 2024 visit.
Start your visit to ARM Cuauhtémoc at the gangway. Make your way up the narrow ramp to reach the ship.
Once onboard, we were free to explore the open deck of the ship.
ARM Cuauhtémoc is a sail ship. It is fitted with three masts spiderwebbed with rigging. The ship was built in Bilbao, Spain and has its homeport at Acapulco, Mexico.
It is named for the last Azetec Emperor whose name, Cuauhtémoc, means “one who has descended like an eagle”. You can see his image represented on the ship’s figurehead.
The ship was commissioned in July 1982 and is built to a 1930s design.
Stepping off the gangway, you will be at the quarterdeck of the ship. Here, we could step up to the ship’s wheel and imagine what it would be like to helm the ship which measures 67 metres long at the waterline.
From the quarterdeck, we were able to proceed to explore the mid-section of the ship. This is where you can find the ship’s bell and the galley, as a ship’s kitchen is called.
Moving toward the bow or front of the ship, there are cannons mounted on both the starboard and port sides. We could make our way all the bow where the bowsprit is located and take plenty of photos along the way.

ARM Cuauhtémoc will be open to the public from 22 to 26 August 2024 and admission is free. Here are the public visits times:
- August 22: 12 pm to 8 pm
- August 23: 10 am to 5 pm
- August 24, 25 & 26: 10 am to 8 pm
