A new therapeutic garden has opened at West Coast Park Area 2. Set a distance away from the popular West Coast Park playground at Area 3, the West Coast Park therapeutic garden is a place to slow down and enjoy the restorative effects of nature.
A Look at the West Coast Park Therapeutic Garden
The West Coast Park Therapeutic Garden is broadly divided into two zones, a Senior Zone and a Children’s Zone.
It is close to the West Coast Park bike rental kiosk and occupies part of the area that used to be the winding bicycle cycling course.

The Senior Zone features a mix of broad paths as well as some that lead up a little rise in the terrain.
A winding path leads through a shelter with seating. The shelter has a green roof which helps to keep it cool.
Other features at this section of the West Coast Park Therapeutic Garden include raised planters (one of two at the therapeutic garden) and a fitness area.
Children’s Zone and Playground at the West Coast Therapeutic Garden
The other half of the West Coast Park Therapeutic Garden is occupied by the Children’s Zone.
A raised bridge invites young children to have some fun. Small paths lead up and down the mini hill eventually leading a mini children’s playground.
There is a sand play area. Kids can bring along their spades and buckets and can enjoy the various sand play structures in the sand pit.
Next to the sand play area is the Active Play Zone. In addition to the pair of regular swings there is also a basket swing.
One other feature at this mini playground is an old school-style merry-go-round.
The children’s play area won’t replace the massive main West Coast Park playground but it does offer an alternative for younger kids.
The West Coast Park Therapeutic Garden is also designed to cater to children with special needs and wheelchair users.
Part of the old cycling course still remains.
