Usher in the Year of the Snake with the scaly residents at the Mandai Wildlife Reserve wildlife parks! From 28 January to 12 February 2025, you can have a wild Chinese New Year with family and friends while learning about the fascinating abilities of snakes and the important role they play in balancing our ecosystem, as well as receive auspicious greetings for a prosperous year ahead.

This year, Singapore Zoo and the other wildlife parks will be celebrating a wild CNY with various activities. Get transported into the amazing world of star reptiles through scheduled Keeper Talk sessions featuring the king cobra at Singapore Zoo, the green anaconda at River Wonders as well as the cave racer and carpet python at Night Safari.

Discover fun facts about snakes from the Mandai Wildlife Reserve’s care team. For example, did you now that snakes generally prefer to stay still and camouflage with their environment to protect themselves? Or that the king cobra is the longest venomous snake in the world, and the cave racer having the impressive ability to move along cave walls.

Visitors to the Singapore Zoo and the other parks for a wild Chinese New Year will also get the chance to observe the king cobra feeding, and the cave racer and carpet python engaging in enrichment, or activities that keep them mentally and physically stimulated.

Visitors can watch the snakes’ mighty senses in action as they flick their tongue to “taste” the air and detect prey.

For up-close encounters, don’t miss meet-and-greet sessions with ambassador species like the Honduran milk snake at Singapore Zoo’s RepTopia. The brightly coloured snake resembles the venomous coral snake as a defence mechanism.

 

Digital Quizzes and Scavenger Hunt

There will also be digital quizzes at Singapore Zoo and River Wonders. 

Visitors can also go on a scavenger hunt at Bird Paradise.

Find out how many live young female green anacondas can produce, get a refresher on Lunar New Year customs and learn how weaver birds protect themselves against predators like snakes.

Scale new heights in the brand new year with auspicious greetings at animal presentations, rousing lion dance performances and the chance to meet the God of Fortune, as well as zoo-diac prediction displays for a glimpse into the year ahead.

The first 188 guests to enter any of the wildlife parks on select days will receive an exclusive Mandai Wildlife Reserve zodiac “gold coin”.
