Wild Rice will be streaming its family holiday musical Mama White Snake online from 22 May to 7 June 2020. Watch this humorous spin on the Chinese folk tale Madam White Snake from the comfort of home.
As part of its Wild@Home series, Wild Rice has been entertaining people in their living rooms with screenings of some of its theatre productions.
Mama White Snake streaming on Wild Rice YouTube channel
From Friday, 22 May, 7.30 pm to Sunday, 7 June, 11.59 pm, audiences will be able to watch Alfian Sa’at’s Mama White Snake streaming on Wild Rice’s YouTube channel.
The production of Mama White Snake that will be shown was recorded live at the Drama Centre Theatre on 8 December 2017.

Directed by Pam Oei, the show is in the British pantomime tradition but with a local twist. It features Glen Goei and Ivan Heng cross-dressed in the roles of Mama White Snake and Auntie Green Snake respectively.
Other members of the cast include Siti Khalijah Zainal, Zelda Tatiana Ng, Cheryl Tan, Andrew Marko and the First Stage Kids.
From Emei Mountain to Your Living Room
Mama White Snake follows the story of Meng, a boy from Emei Mountain who leaves his mother and aunt to enrol in a martial arts school.
There, the truth about Meng’s heritage emerges as it is revealed that his mother and aunt are the magical White Snake and Green Snake.
Activity Book
Accompanying Mama White Snake is an activity book which can be downloaded from the Wild Rice website. In the book, you can learn about the pantomime tradition, get instructions on how to make your own craftwork Chinese opera headpiece, try out puzzle activities and get suggestions for video-call-friendly games.
A live talkback session will be held on Thursday, 28 May at 9 pm.
