Inspired by the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers, the longest-running floral show in Australia which is celebrating it 75th birthday this year, the dazzling and colourful Carnival of Flowers floral showcase at the Flower Dome is held in collaboration with the Toowoomba Regional Council.
Soak in the vibes of the bright blooms at Carnival of Flower that include native Australian plants like kangaroo paw, grevillea, waratah, manuka, and banksia.

Kangaroo paws can be identified as they fan out in a burst of colour-cylindrical buds covered in dense, velvety hairs.
The Strawflower is named for its straw-like bracts-stiff, papery “petals” encircling the central disk, like something out of a summer craft project.
Manuka is a hardy evergreen shrub found in Southeast Australia and New Zealand. It has dense branches and small needle-like leaves that release fragrant oil when crushed.
Highlights at Carnival of Flowers, the Australia-themed Display at Flower Dome, Gardens by the Bay
Adding to the charm of the Australia-themed floral display are delightful depictions of beloved Australian wildlife, from cute koalas to life-sized kangaroos and kookaburras.
At the heart of this visual feast are spectacular floral floats crafted from preserved flowers, such as a Ferris wheel and a captivating carousel with adorable Australian farm animals.
Larger-than-life paper sculptures of native Australian flowers by local artist PeiPer add a touch of artistry to this floral fiesta. Elements of Australia’s Indigenous culture will also be conveyed through art specially created by Toowoomba artists for the floral display.

Genestreaming Journey Sculpture
Featuring field naturalist art from the Art of Nature School, the Genestreaming Journey Sculpture celebrates Aboriginal art from the Bunya Mountains.
The sculpture highlights connections between these two locations and Boyce Gardens Toowoomba. The reworked sculpture was specially created for Gardens by the Bay and can be found once you have entered into the Flower Dome.
Floral Parade
Inspired by the iconic Grand Central Floral Parade, spot five floral floats at Carnival of Flowers around the Flower Field. Surrounding it are also life-sized “kangaroos” made out of dried flowers.
A rotating merry-go-round with floral ponies and cows occupies the centre of the Flower Field at Carnival of Flowers.
A whimsical ferris wheel signals that it is Spring Down Under and it is time to head outdoors to celebrate the mild weather.
There is a charming red tractor with an entourage of bees behind it. A metal sign reads “Save The Bees”.
Look out for a wheelbarrow overflowing with produce from the farmer’s market.
PeiPer’s Sustainable Flowers Display

Dotted around the displays are flowers created out of paper that show off the beauty in repurposing and recycling.
Aboriginal Australian Art
Aboriginal Australian art includes rock paintings, body art, dot paintings, weaving, carvings, and ceremonial poles, traditionally made with organic materials like ochre and clay pigments bound by saliva, blood, and plant gum.
The art serves as a powerful form of storytelling, preserving knowledge, traditions, and spiritual wisdom for future generations.
Painted Wooden Ornaments by Canberra Primary School & Rangeville State School
Over 400 vibrant ornaments have been painted by students from Canberra Primary School in Singapore and Rangeville State School in Toowoomba, Australia for Carnival of Flowers. They can be found all around the display. Keep your eyes peeled for them.
